Artist Talk with the winner of the Foam Paul Huf Award
Raphaël Dallaporta and Eric Fouache (Professor of physical
geography and geoarchaeology at the Department of Geography,
University of Paris). hosted by Marcel Feil (Deputy Director,
Artistic Affairs, Foam).
To coincide with the exhibition Observation, Foam is
organizing an evening which will explore the work of French
photographer Raphaël Dallaporta. The evening will mainly focus its
attention on his most recent series Fragile (2010) and
Ruins (2011). Foam curator Kim Knoppers will be
placing Dallaporta's work in the history of medical and aerial
photography. Marcel Feil will afterwards host a discussion between
Dallaporta and Fouache, who collaborated intensively in
Afghanistan for Ruins. There will also be plenty of time
for questions from the audience.
Observation is exhibited in Foam until Wednesday, 26
October.
The winner of this year's Foam Paul Huf Award was Raphaël
Dallaporta. There is a certain tension that his work creates;
caused by the beauty of the objects and the severity of the subject
matter. The subjects have a tendency to call up strong emotions but
Dallaporta chooses to register his images in a cool and restrained
fashion. To create his series Dallaporta collaborates extensively
with specialists from various fields / sectors such as medicine and
archeology.
Foam Café
Foam Café will be open before and after the evenings programming.
